  • 1/2 cup milk Full milk recommended for best texture.
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter Fresh butter makes a difference in flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Enhances flavor.
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts Optional, for added texture.

Preparation

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, cocoa powder, and milk. Stir over medium heat until the mixture comes to a boil.
  • Once boiling, continue to cook for about 4-5 minutes without stirring until a soft ball stage is reached (235°F/112°C).
  • Remove from heat and stir in the butter and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • If desired, fold in the chopped nuts gently.
  • Pour the fudge mixture into a greased 8x8 inch pan and let it cool completely until set.
  • Cut into squares and enjoy.

Notes

Store your fudge in an airtight container at cool room temperature for best results. It keeps well for up to two weeks.
