Cake Ingredients

  • 1 box Devil’s Food Chocolate cake mix
  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • 16 ounces caramel sauce
  • 8 ounces Cool Whip Substitutable with heavy cream.
  • 4 pieces Heath bars Chop for topping.

Additional Ingredients

  • 1 cup buttermilk At room temperature.
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs At room temperature.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and set the racks in the middle.
  • Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

Mixing the Batter

  • In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla; mix until smooth.
  • Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.

Baking

  • Bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.

Assembling the Cake

  • Whip the heavy cream in a bowl until soft peaks form.
  • Layer one cake on a platter, add whipped cream and drizzle with caramel.
  • Place the second cake layer on top and repeat the process.
  • Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least one hour.

Serving

  • Dress the cake with caramel, chopped Heath bars, and optional toppings before serving.

Notes

The cake can taste better the next day as flavors meld. Store in an airtight container for 2-3 days or freeze for up to a month.
