Ingredients
  

For the mug cake

  • 4 tablespoons all purpose flour Regular flour works great.
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar Classic choice for sweetness.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder Helps the cake puff up.
  • 1 pinch salt Enhances flavor.
  • 3 tablespoons milk Dairy or non-dairy is fine.
  • 1 tablespoon neutral oil or melted butter Oil keeps it moist, butter adds flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Do not skip for best flavor.

Optional Add-Ins

  • 1 tablespoon sprinkles To make it feel extra special.
  • 1 tablespoon white chocolate chips Can be added for extra sweetness.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Add 4 tablespoons of flour, 2 tablespoons of sugar, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, and a pinch of salt into your mug. Stir with a fork until evenly mixed.
  • Add 3 tablespoons of milk, 1 tablespoon of oil or melted butter, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  • Stir again until there are no dry flour pockets. Scrape the bottom to incorporate all ingredients.

Cooking

  • Microwave the mixture for about 60 to 90 seconds. Start with 60 seconds and add increments of 10 seconds as needed.
  • Let the cake sit for 1 minute after microwaving to finish setting up and cool down.

Notes

Use a large enough mug (12 to 16 ounce recommended) to prevent overflow. Do not overmix the batter; stir until combined. Quality vanilla really enhances the flavor.
