Ingredients
  

  • 2 large eggs
  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt or sea salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup light brown sugar packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups chocolate chips mix of semisweet and dark
  • 14 tablespoons unsalted butter melted and slightly cooled
  • extra chocolate chips optional, for topping
  • flaky sea salt optional, for topping

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt to evenly distribute the leavening.
  • In a separate bowl, mix melted butter with granulated and brown sugar until fully combined.
  • Add eggs and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture and stir until smooth.
  • Gradually fold in the dry ingredients using a spatula until just combined—don’t overmix.
  • Stir in chocolate chips, ensuring even distribution throughout the dough.
  • Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Scoop dough onto the baking sheet, spacing them out. Top each with extra chocolate chips and a pinch of flaky sea salt, if desired.
  • Bake for 12–15 minutes or until edges are golden brown and centers are just set.
  • Let cookies cool on the sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling.

Notes

To really impress, serve these with a scoop of ice cream for the ultimate dessert sandwich. For a touch of elegance, sprinkle edible gold flakes on top after baking. Dough can be frozen into scoops for fresh-baked cookies anytime.
