Ingredients

For the cookie dough

  • 1 cup unsalted butter Browned for enhanced flavor
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, add the unsalted butter. Cook, stirring often, until it has a nutty aroma and turns golden brown, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the browned butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Mix until smooth.
  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix this into the wet ingredients until just combined; do not overmix.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  • Drop generous spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between each scoop.

Baking

  • Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden brown and the centers look soft.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For added variations, consider using different types of chocolate chips or adding a pinch of cinnamon for extra flavor. To keep cookies fresh, store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
