  • 1 cup whole milk

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 8-inch round cake pans lightly.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the room temperature butter and granulated sugar for about 5 minutes until pale and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Stir in the vanilla bean paste, mixing until evenly distributed.
  • Sift the cake flour and baking powder into the batter in three parts, folding gently until just combined.
  • Finally, stir in the whole milk until the batter is smooth.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Cooling

  • Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then turn them out onto a cooling rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store cake in an airtight container for up to three days. For longer storage, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to a week, or freeze slices.
