  • 1 cup White sugar Regular granulated sugar
  • 2 large Eggs Use room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract Can substitute with almond extract
  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking powder Fresh baking powder helps achieve fluffiness
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Colored sugar sprinkles Optional, for decoration

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Beat the room temperature butter and sugar together until fluffy, about 3 minutes using a hand mixer.
  • Add the eggs and vanilla extract into the mixture, stirring until smooth.
  • Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt before gradually mixing into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Scoop or roll the dough into balls and place them on a baking sheet, adding colored sugar sprinkles if desired.

Baking

  • Bake in a preheated oven until the edges are set but the centers remain soft, generally 8-10 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the tray for 1-2 minutes before transferring to a rack.

Notes

Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes for thicker cookies. Store baked cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days. Dough can be frozen for later use.
