Ingredients
  

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Whisk flour and baking soda in a small bowl.
  • Cream butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt in a large bowl until smooth.
  • Beat in vanilla and eggs until combined.
  • Gradually add flour mixture; mix until just combined.
  • Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake 10–12 minutes, until edges are golden and centers are soft.
  • Cool briefly on sheets, then transfer to wire racks.

Notes

For extra chewiness, chill dough for 30 minutes before baking. Add nuts or swap chocolate chip varieties for fun variations.
