  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar Enhances flavor.
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce Your favorite kind.
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar For sweetness.
  • to taste salt and pepper Essential seasonings.
  • 1/2 cup chicken or veggie broth Keeps the meat moist.

Preparation

  • Pat the pork dry and season it liberally with salt and pepper.
  • Place the onion slices in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  • Put the pork shoulder on top of the onions.
  • In a bowl, combine apple cider vinegar, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, and broth. Stir to mix well.
  • Pour the mixture over the pork.

Cooking

  • Cover and set the slow cooker to LOW for about 8 hours.
  • Once cooked, shred the pork with two forks and stir it back into the sauce.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding smoked paprika or chipotle powder. Leftovers can be used in tacos, nachos, or breakfast burritos. Store in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
