Ingredients
  

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure it's softened, not melted.
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Mix-ins

  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts Optional
  • a pinch cinnamon or a splash of molasses Secret ingredient, choose one.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the creamed butter mixture. Stir until combined.
  • Mix in the rolled oats, chocolate chips, and any optional nuts, along with your secret ingredient.

Baking

  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets with some space in between.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

To store, keep cookies in an airtight container for up to one week in the fridge, or freeze for up to three months. Reheat in a 350°F oven for about 5 minutes or in an air fryer at 300°F for a few minutes.
