  • 1 cup Apple Cider Use as a base for the sauce.
  • 1/2 cup Chicken Broth or White Wine Choose preferred option for extra flavor.

Spices and Herbs

  • 2 tsp Onion Powder
  • 2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Smoked Paprika
  • 1 tsp Fresh Thyme Fresh preferred.
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Rosemary, chopped Essential for flavor.

Vegetables and Fruit

  • 1 piece Red Onion, sliced
  • 1-2 pieces Honeycrisp Apples, sliced Can substitute with other apples.

Sauce Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp Salted Butter Can use olive oil for a lighter option.
  • 2 tbsp Dijon Mustard Adds depth to the sauce.
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced Fresh minced garlic is best.

Miscellaneous

  • to taste Olive oil For searing.
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F.
  • Season the chicken thighs with onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, thyme, and rosemary.

Cooking

  • In a hot, oven-safe skillet, sear the chicken on both sides until golden brown.
  • Add the sliced red onion and honeycrisp apples around the chicken.
  • Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes until cooked through.
  • Remove the chicken, apples, and onions from the skillet and set aside.
  • Add butter, apple cider, chicken broth, Dijon mustard, and minced garlic to the skillet; whisk until thickened.
  • Return the chicken and apples back to the pan, spoon sauce over, and serve hot.

Notes

Pairs well with fresh green salad, roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, rice or crusty bread for mopping up the sauce. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for 3-4 days and reheated in the oven for best results.
