  • 2 pieces ribeye steaks Choose cuts with good marbling for flavor.
  • 2 large onions, sliced Cook until golden brown for caramelization.
  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed Yukon gold or russet potatoes can be used.
  • 1/4 cup butter Fresh butter makes a difference.
  • 1/2 cup milk Add more for desired creaminess.
  • to taste Salt and pepper For seasoning.
  • to taste Olive oil For cooking steak and onions.

Instructions
 

Cooking the Steak

  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil.
  • Season the ribeye steaks with salt and pepper.
  • Cook the steaks for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare.
  • Remove from skillet and let them rest.

Caramelizing the Onions

  • In the same skillet, add sliced onions and a bit more olive oil.
  • Cook slowly, stirring occasionally, until golden brown, about 15-20 minutes.

Making the Mashed Potatoes

  • Boil potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  • Drain potatoes and return them to the pot while hot.
  • Add butter and milk; mash until smooth and creamy.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serving

  • Serve the steaks topped with caramelized onions alongside a scoop of mashed potatoes.

Notes

For a twist, consider adding a drizzle of balsamic glaze on the onions or fresh herbs to the mashed potatoes. Leftovers can be stored in airtight containers for up to three days.
