Ingredients

Cake Base

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (15.25 oz)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs

Peanut Butter Swirl

  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Toppings

  • 1 cup Reese’s peanut butter cups, chopped
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix just until everything is combined; a few lumps are okay.
  • Pour the chocolate batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the peanut butter, powdered sugar, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Drop spoonfuls of the peanut butter mixture over the chocolate batter, about 12 to 15 dollops.
  • Using a knife, swirl gently through the batter to create marbled ribbons.
  • Sprinkle the chopped Reese’s peanut butter cups and chocolate chips on top and press them in lightly.

Baking

  • Bake for 35 to 40 minutes; check for doneness with a toothpick.
  • Let the cake cool in the pan for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
