For the Cookie Dough

  • 1 cup butter, softened Ensure butter is softened, not melted.
  • 1 cup brown sugar Packed brown sugar works best.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Adds flavor to the cookies.
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups rolled oats For best texture, use rolled oats.
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and creamy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually blend this into the creamed mixture.
  • Stir in the oats and chocolate chips.
  • Drop tablespoonfuls of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets, leaving space for spreading.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown. Watch carefully to avoid overcooking.
  • Allow cookies to cool on wire racks.

Notes

Cookies can be enjoyed alone or paired with vanilla ice cream, fruit, or drizzled with chocolate sauce. Store in an airtight container for up to a week, or freeze for longer storage.
