Ingredients
  

For the Cookie Dough

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

For the Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk (for consistency)
  • optional a sprinkle of cinnamon for garnish

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Cream together the softened butter and brown sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  • Add the maple syrup, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed.
  • Roll the dough into 1 1/2-inch balls and place on the baking sheets, flattening each ball gently.

Baking

  • Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are golden and centers are set.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Making the Glaze

  • Whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk to achieve a smooth consistency.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cookies and optionally sprinkle with cinnamon.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Freeze for longer storage. Shortcuts include using pre-mixed cookie dough and ready-made glaze.
