  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter Super soft, at room temperature.
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 large Eggs Big old eggs.
  • 1 cup Sour cream The secret fluff-booster.
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract

For the Frosting

  • 1 cup Unsalted butter For frosting.
  • 4 cups Powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons Milk A splash for consistency.
  • Sprinkles Optional, but recommended.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Cream together the butter and sugar until it's light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs and vanilla; beat until combined.
  • Mix in the sour cream until smooth.
  • In another bowl, mix flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Scoop generous mounds onto a lined baking sheet, giving them ample space to puff up.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until soft and not golden brown.
  • Allow them to cool before frosting.

Frosting

  • Beat the butter until fluffy, then add powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Mix until combined and to your liking.
  • Spread thickly on the cooled cookies and decorate with sprinkles.

Notes

For the fluffiest cookies, handle the dough gently and avoid overmixing. Chilling the dough for 30 minutes helps prevent spreading.
