Ingredients

For the Twists

  • 1 sheet Puff Pastry (thawed)
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese (softened) Use full-fat for a silkier filling.
  • 1 cup Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese (or Monterey Jack) Freshly grated is preferred for better melting.
  • 1/2 cup Sliced Jalapenos (fresh or pickled) Remove seeds for milder heat.
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 large Egg (for egg wash)

Dipping Sauces

  • As needed Ranch, sriracha mayo, or honey mustard

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment.
  • In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth.
  • Add the shredded cheddar, sliced jalapenos, and garlic powder. Stir until well mixed.
  • Unfold the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and roll it into a rectangle about 10 by 12 inches.
  • Spread the cheese mixture evenly across half of the pastry, then fold the other half over the filling.
  • Cut the pastry into long strips, about 1 inch wide.

Baking

  • Twist each strip gently and place on the prepared baking sheet with space between them.
  • Brush each with a light egg wash.
  • Bake for 12 to 16 minutes, watching for even browning.
  • Let the twists cool for 5 minutes on the pan, then transfer them to a rack.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat in the oven to restore crispness. For freezing, wrap tightly and freeze for up to two months.
