Ingredients
  

For the Cookie Dough

  • 4 pieces eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened) Use real butter for best flavor.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla or almond extract
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder

For the Glaze

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons milk Add more if a thinner consistency is desired.
  • Nonpareil sprinkles For decoration.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Whisk together the flour and baking powder in a bowl; set aside.
  • Cream the softened butter, vanilla extract, and sugar together in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition to ensure everything is well combined.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter and sugar mixture; mix until it just comes together. Knead the dough until it is firm.
  • Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Shape the cold dough into 1-inch balls or swirls and place them on the prepared baking sheets.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, until the edges turn golden.
  • Allow the cookies to cool completely on wire racks.

Glazing

  • While the cookies cool, combine the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk in a bowl. Whisk until glossy and smooth.
  • Dip the tops of the cooled cookies into the glaze and decorate generously with nonpareil sprinkles.
  • Let the glaze set for 30 to 60 minutes before enjoying.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Freeze in layers with parchment paper for up to three months.
