  • 1 loaf Bread French, Italian, or Ciabatta are ideal choices.
  • 1/2 cup Butter Softened for easy spreading.
  • 3 cloves Garlic Fresh minced or grated preferred.
  • 1/4 cup Parsley Fresh or dried.
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 pinch Black pepper

Optional Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese For topping.
  • 1/2 cup Mozzarella cheese For cheesy garlic bread.
  • 1 teaspoon Red pepper flakes For a spicy version.
  • 1 squeeze Lemon For brightness.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Slice the bread lengthwise or into thick pieces.
  • In a bowl, mix the softened butter with minced garlic, parsley, and a pinch of salt.
  • Spread the garlic butter mixture generously on the cut side of the bread.

Baking

  • Place the bread on a sheet pan and bake for 8 to 12 minutes until hot and golden.
  • For extra browning, broil for 30 to 60 seconds, but watch closely to avoid burning.

Notes

For softer garlic bread, wrap in foil for part of the bake. For a crispier texture, bake open-faced. You can prepare the garlic butter ahead and store it in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze the assembled bread for up to 2 months.
