Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cans baked beans
  • 0.5 lb bacon, chopped
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 0.25 cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until it’s mostly crisp, about 6-8 minutes.
  • Add the diced onion to the pan and cook until softened, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Pour in the baked beans into a slow cooker or baking dish.
  • Stir in the cooked bacon and onion.
  • Add the barbecue sauce, brown sugar, mustard, smoked paprika, and black pepper. Mix everything together until well combined.

Cooking

  • If using a slow cooker, set it to low and cook for 3 to 4 hours. For oven baking, preheat to 350°F and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Stir once or twice during cooking to ensure everything melds beautifully.

Serving

  • Serve warm beside your grilled meats, letting everyone scoop from a big bowl.

Notes

Feel free to substitute bacon with turkey bacon or smoked sausage. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3 to 5 days or freeze for up to three months. Reheat in the oven for best texture.
