  • 4 pieces chicken thighs Use bone-in or boneless, as preferred.
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped Cook until crispy.
  • 1 tbsp olive oil Optional, use if needed for cooking.
  • 1 tsp dried thyme Or use fresh thyme, about 3 tsp.
  • 1 tsp ranch seasoning Store-bought or homemade.
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder Fresh minced garlic can be used.
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth Low sodium is preferred.
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream Can substitute with yogurt for a lighter sauce.
  • Salt to taste Salt and black pepper Adjust according to preference.

Preparation

  • Cook the bacon: In a skillet, add the chopped bacon. Cook over medium heat until it’s crisp, keeping an eye on it to prevent burning. Transfer to a plate when done.
  • Season the chicken: Take your chicken thighs and season them well with thyme, ranch seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Sear the chicken: If your bacon rendered a good amount of fat, skip adding more oil. Place the seasoned chicken in the skillet and sear for about 4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Add liquids: Pour in your chicken broth and heavy cream to create a sauce.
  • Return the bacon: Add the crispy bacon back into the pan.
  • Simmer: Lower the heat, cover, and let it simmer for about 8 to 10 minutes. Chicken should be cooked through; juices should run clear.
  • Spoon sauce: When done, spoon some of the sauce over the chicken before serving.

Notes

This dish is flexible. Different herbs or added vegetables can be included. Storage tips: leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to three days.
