Ingredients
  

Fruit Mixture

  • 6 cups sliced apples A mix of sweet and tart apples is recommended.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Add more for a warm spice profile.

Crisp Topping

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can be substituted with gluten-free flour.
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup softened butter Fresh butter is recommended.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, mix together the sliced apples, granulated sugar, and cinnamon. Spread the mixture evenly in a greased baking dish.
  • In another bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, and softened butter until crumbly.
  • Sprinkle the oat mixture over the apples.

Baking

  • Bake for 35-40 minutes until the apples are tender and the top is golden brown.

Serving

  • Serve warm, optionally with ice cream.

Notes

For storing, cover with plastic wrap or transfer to an airtight container. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes.
