  • 1 pound Italian sausage Use your favorite type of Italian sausage, sweet or spicy.
  • 1 unit onion, chopped Adds sweetness and depth of flavor.

  • 4 cups chicken broth You can use low-sodium broth if preferred.
  • 2 cups pasta (any shape you like) Cook according to package instructions.

For the creamy finish

  • 1 cup heavy cream Provides richness to the soup.
  • 1 cup parmesan cheese, grated Adds a salty and nutty flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning Assures authentic Italian flavor.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Salt and pepper, to taste Adjust according to your preference.

Preparation

  • In a large pot, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Break up the sausage as it cooks and drain excess fat.
  • Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
  • Lower the heat and stir in the heavy cream and grated parmesan cheese, stirring until melted and creamy.
  • Season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to taste.
  • Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in airtight containers in the fridge for about three days. Reheat on the stove and add a splash of cream if it thickens.
