  • 1 small onion chopped Yellow or white onion works best.
  • 2 cups thinly sliced russet or Yukon gold potatoes Choose any variety of potatoes you prefer.
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup Can use homemade or store-bought.
  • 1/2 cup whole milk or heavy cream Heavy cream will provide extra richness.
  • 1/2 cup sour cream Optional for added creaminess.
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese Feel free to experiment with other cheeses.
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika For extra flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a skillet, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion over medium heat.
  • Sprinkle in the salt, pepper, and paprika.
  • Once the beef is browned, drain the excess fat.

Mixing

  • In a bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup, whole milk, and sour cream until smooth.
  • Spread the cooked beef evenly in a greased 9x13 baking dish.
  • Layer the thinly sliced potatoes over the beef.

Baking

  • Pour the creamy mixture over the potatoes, ensuring all slices are covered.
  • Sprinkle cheddar cheese over the top.
  • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden.
  • Let rest for 5-10 minutes before serving and garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes
