  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar Reduce or substitute with stevia for lower sugar content.
  • 8 ounces Semi-Sweet Baking Chocolate High-quality chocolate chips can work but baking chocolate is recommended.
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt Opt for sea salt for a touch of gourmet.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract Feel free to increase or replace with almond extract.

  • 1 cup Whipped Cream Use homemade for a personal touch.
  • 1/4 cup Chocolate Shavings Create your own easily with a vegetable peeler.
  • 1 cup Mini Marshmallows They’ll melt into gooey sweetness!

Instructions

Preparation

  • Chop the semi-sweet baking chocolate into small pieces and place it into the slow cooker.
  • Pour 4 cups of whole milk and 1 cup of heavy cream over the chocolate. Stir gently to combine.
  • Add 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Stir once to distribute the sugar.
  • Cover and set the slow cooker to low. Let the mixture warm for about 1 hour, stirring gently every 15 minutes.
  • After 1 hour, whisk the mixture until the chocolate melts fully and the surface looks glossy.
  • Once smooth, stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and 1 teaspoon of peppermint extract. Adjust to taste.
  • Set the slow cooker to warm for up to 4 hours for serving, stirring gently.
  • Ladle into mugs and top with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, and mini marshmallows. Serve immediately.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. When reheating, stir gently and add a splash of milk if needed. For variations, consider adding spices like cinnamon or using white chocolate instead.
