Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure butter is at room temperature.
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 unit egg At room temperature for best results.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract Can be omitted or swapped for more vanilla.

Mix-ins

  • 3 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional) Choose your favorite nuts or omit.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a small bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  • In a larger bowl, cream together the softened butter and white sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
  • Gradually blend in the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Baking

  • Gently stir in the chocolate chips and nuts.
  • Drop large spoonfuls of cookie dough onto ungreased baking pans, leaving space between each.
  • Bake for about 9 to 11 minutes, or until the edges are golden.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week, or freeze for longer storage.
