Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs

Add-ins

  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional) Can be replaced with other nuts or omitted

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a small bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in the salt, vanilla extract, and eggs until well blended.
  • Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts if using.
  • Drop large spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking pans.

Baking

  • Bake the cookies for 10 to 12 minutes until lightly browned on the edges.
  • Let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week, or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven or air fryer for best texture.
