Ingredients
  

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure it's at room temperature.
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For added flavor.

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Additional Ingredients

  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Use dark chocolate for a richer flavor, if desired.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until smooth and creamy (about 2-3 minutes).
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the butter mixture until just combined.
  • Mix in the rolled oats and chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  • Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until edges are golden brown. Allow to cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container for up to one week in the fridge or freeze them for up to three months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F for about 5 minutes.
