  • 4 large croissants, torn into pieces You can use stale croissants for added flavor.
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk Whole milk can be used.
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream Can substitute with whole milk.
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with a little butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla until well combined.
  • Add the torn croissant pieces to the egg mixture and gently fold in the chocolate chips. Allow to soak for about 10-15 minutes.
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

Baking

  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden and the custard is set.
  • Allow to cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For a twist, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg or a splash of orange extract. This dish can be made a day ahead; it tastes even better after the flavors settle.
