Dry Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs

Add-ins

  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, beat the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt together using a mixer on medium speed until smooth.
  • Mix in the vanilla and add the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and stir just until mixed.
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Drop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving space between them.

Baking

  • Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature butter and make sure to not overmix the dough.
