  • 1 cup unsalted butter Melted until golden brown
  • 1 cup brown sugar Packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs Crack in one at a time
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Use semi-sweet or dark chips based on preference

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until it turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma, about 5-7 minutes.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the melted brown butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Mix until smooth.
  • Add the vanilla extract and eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips gently.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are golden brown.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze for up to three months. Reheat in the oven or air fryer for a few minutes to regain crisp edges.
