  • 1 to 2 teaspoons dried butterfly pea flowers Or use 1 tea bag
  • to taste fresh lemon or lime Squeeze to taste
  • optional honey or no-calorie sweetener Add sparingly to avoid calorie overload
  • optional sliced ginger, mint, cucumber, or a pinch of cinnamon For additional flavors

Preparation

  • Steep the butterfly pea flowers in hot water for about 5 to 8 minutes. Strain if necessary.
  • Add lemon or lime juice and watch the color change to purple.
  • For iced tea, cool the tea down and pour over ice.

Notes

Start with a small amount of sweetener to avoid making the drink overly sweet. This tea can be used as a base for mocktails by adding sparkling water and lemon.
