Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Cook it until it turns golden brown and gives off a nutty smell, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the brown butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar. Stir until smooth and creamy.
  • Whisk in the vanilla extract and the eggs until well combined. The batter should be glossy and thick.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix this dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring they are evenly distributed.
  • Using a tablespoon, scoop out balls of dough and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between them for spreading.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze for up to three months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F for 5 minutes.
