  • 1 cup unsalted butter Melted to a brown color for flavor
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs Room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips Feel free to use dark chocolate for a richer taste

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking.
  • In a saucepan, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter over medium heat until golden brown and nutty in aroma. Remove from heat and cool.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together 1 cup of brown sugar and 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, then mix in the cooled brown butter until smooth.
  • Add 2 large eggs and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the mixture and stir until fully incorporated.
  • In a separate bowl, combine 2 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
  • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Gently fold in 2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between each.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For serving, pair with vanilla ice cream, fresh berries, or drizzle with chocolate sauce. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for longer storage.
