Ingredients
  

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter room temperature
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a small bowl, whisk together flour and baking soda; set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt until smooth.
  • Beat in vanilla extract and eggs until well combined.
  • Gradually mix in the flour mixture until just combined.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips.
  • Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake for 9–11 minutes, until edges are golden brown.
  • Cool on baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Notes

For thicker cookies, chill dough for 30 minutes before baking. Add nuts or a sprinkle of sea salt for extra flavor.
