  • 1 cup unsalted butter Browned for depth of flavor.
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour Ensure it's sifted for best results.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Or your preferred type of chocolate.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat until it turns brown and has a nutty aroma. Be careful not to burn it. Let it cool slightly.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the brown butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Stir until mixed well.
  • Add vanilla and eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Scoop tablespoons of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between each.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. For longer storage, freeze in a zip-top bag for up to three months. To reheat, pop them in the oven at 350°F for about 5 minutes.
