Ingredients

  • 1 package (11 oz) vanilla wafer cookies or graham crackers
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 package (3.4 oz) instant banana pudding mix or vanilla pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk whole milk recommended
  • 1 tub (8 oz) whipped topping thawed
  • 3 to 4 ripe bananas sliced
  • Optional toppings extra whipped cream, crushed cookies, or caramel drizzle

Instructions

  • Crush the vanilla wafers into fine crumbs using a food processor or by hand in a zip-top bag.
  • Combine cookie crumbs with melted butter until the texture resembles wet sand.
  • Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9x13-inch dish to form the crust. Chill in the fridge for 10 minutes.
  • Whisk together the pudding mix and cold milk for 2 minutes until thick. Let it sit for 5 minutes to fully set.
  • Slice the bananas and layer them evenly over the chilled crust. Optional: lightly coat with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  • Spread the pudding over the banana layer and smooth it out.
  • Top with the whipped topping and smooth the surface. Add optional toppings like cookie crumbs or banana slices.
  • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to let it set.

Notes

For best flavor, consume within 2-3 days. Add bananas shortly before serving to avoid browning. Not ideal for freezing due to texture changes. Try graham crackers or Oreos as a crust alternative. Add a splash of rum to the pudding for an adult twist.
