Ingredients
  

For the breading

  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour Consider using whole wheat flour for a healthier option.
  • ½ teaspoon garlic and onion seasoning
  • ½ cup ranch dressing You can use any creamy dressing that you prefer.
  • ¾ cup panko bread crumbs You can swap for crushed cornflakes for a crunchier texture.
  • 2 tablespoons dry ranch dressing mix

For the mushrooms

  • 8 ounces portobello mushroom caps, cleaned Button mushrooms or shiitake mushrooms can be used as alternatives.
  • Nonstick cooking spray To help the mushrooms crisp up.

Preparation

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Set up a breading station using four shallow dishes. Pour in ½ cup of milk in the first dish.
  • In the second dish, combine ½ cup of all-purpose flour with ½ teaspoon of garlic and onion seasoning.
  • Pour ½ cup of ranch dressing in the third dish.
  • In the fourth dish, mix ¾ cup of panko bread crumbs with 2 tablespoons of dry ranch dressing mix.

Coating and Cooking

  • Coat each portobello mushroom cap by first dipping it into the milk.
  • Roll it in the flour mixture, then dip it into the ranch dressing.
  • Finally, roll it in the panko mixture to coat it well.
  • Place the coated mushrooms in the air fryer basket. Lightly spray with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Air-fry for about 7 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in the air fryer to maintain crispiness.
